Daniel Lucius (D. L.) Kimberly Jr., born in Neenah in 1885, was the son of Daniel Lucius and Frances (Hewitt) Kimberly. After attending mohegan lake school, Princeton University and the university of wisconsin, he worked for a mining company. in 1908, D. L. Kimberly Jr., William C. Wing, C.B. Clark, Jr. and Edward D. Beals, were elected as the officers of the newly formed Hardwood Products Company in Neenah. in 1910, the company built in neenah and Mr. kimberly worked there until his death in 1959. Mr. kimberly was also a charter member of the neenah rotary and boys' brigade, a 32nd degree mason and former president of the Neenah school board, helping to build neenah high school (at the shattuck site). After marrying Miss Margaret Mowry Smith in 1915, the Kimberlys bought the house at 520 east forest ave (later changed to 616 e forest). The family remained there until 1928.
